After posting last week's sneak peek at "Over And Over Again" from my upcoming album A Tale From The Other Side, I almost immediately had a new idea for an arrangement of the song. Instead of a modern take on an early Beatles-style song...why not just go full "Fab?"

So Saturday morning, I quickly re-recorded all of the music in the style of an early 60's Beatles tune, complete with panned instruments and vocals to the hard left and right like those early stereo mixes had.

It was a fun idea to execute, but the result didn't quite fit on the album.

So I tried recording a "Hybrid" of the two takes. I really liked this version as a standalone recording, but I missed a bit of the "drive" that the original mix from last week had in that spot on the album.

So I tried again, and I think I found the sweet spot, bringing in elements of all three previous versions for a final version for the album.

Usually, I would just release the final version, but I figured I'd give subscribers a glimpse at my process for the last week trying to find the right puzzle piece to fit on the album. So following up on last week's Release Of The Week, here are three more versions of "Over And Over Again," including the final mix that will be featured on ATFTOS next month!

I've been hard at work on my new album all summer, and I can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Here's one that will be remixed slightly for the final album release, but I wanted to share another early sneak peek with all of you subscribers out there.

“Over And Over Again” is an upbeat love song that falls in the story of the album right before things start to go off the rails for our main character.

I kind of think of this tune as a modern take on an "Early Beatles" style song; 2-part harmony vocals, 3 minutes long, a quick middle-8 bridge, right down to the drums dropping out with the vocals hanging over the the last chord. Quintessential powerpop vibes for this one...before the “monster” attacks and things go full rock opera on the second half of the album.
